The Real Madrid star is one step closer to Barcelona
Today, Monday, a Spanish press report confirmed that Barcelona is still determined to sign the Real Madrid star next summer.
According to the Catalan newspaper "Sport", Barcelona is looking to take advantage of Marco Asensio's position with Real Madrid, in order to include him for free, next summer.
Asensio's contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the current season, and no agreement has been reached on renewal yet.
Real Madrid made Asensio an offer to renew his contract at the same value as his current salary, which the player refused.
The newspaper indicated that the change of Asensio's agent during the last period, and the contract with Portuguese Jorge Mendes, was "a step towards moving to Barcelona."
Mendes has a close relationship with the officials of the Catalan team, and therefore it is possible to persuade the Real Madrid winger to leave for Camp Nou.
Although the player announced his desire to stay with Real Madrid, it is not expected that the two parties will reach an agreement regarding renewal.
