Jannik Sinner knocks Novak Djokovic out of Australian Open

The 22-year-old Italian player caused a surprise in Melbourne by eliminating world number 1 Novak Djokovic

Jannik Sinner, world number 4, won the semi-final of the Australian Open this Friday. The young Italian thus beat the 36-year-old Serbian, 10-time title champion.

Novak Djokovic declared himself "shocked" by his own level of play during the more than three hours of match, during which he was beaten in four sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 and 6-3 by his rival.

Jannik Sinner thus reaches the final of the tournament, which will also be his first Grand Slam final. “It helps you to know that you can beat a player,” said the young Italian after his victory. “It’s always good to have that kind of player you can learn from.”
